Breeding Rights

  • All dogs are sold with a non-breeding contract
  • If the owner wishes to breed the dog, we may lift this restriction once the dog is health tested and passes all tests, the owner demonstrates knowledge and the ability to breed responsibly.

Life Long Support

  • We are here to help you with training and problem solve any issues anytime
  • We need all new owners to stay in touch and notify us of any health or behavioral issues with the pups.  This is vital for us to monitor our breeding lines so that we only produce healthy, calm dogs
  • If for any reason the new owner can not continue to care for the dog they must contact Ontario Labrador.  We will work with the owner to try to keep the dog in the home but if the dog needs to be rehomed it must be returned to Ontario Labrador for re-homing or have the new home approved by Ontario Labradors.

****At Ontario Labrador we are committed to keeping our dogs out of shelters****.

Spay and Neuter Clause

  • All dogs are sold on a non-breeding contract and must be Spayed or Neutered between 18  and 30  months.
  • Proof of procedure must be supplied to the Breeder.
  • Early Spay or Neuter is discouraged as it affects the dogs development, but will be considered in a limited number of circumstances

Vaccinations

  • Mother dog was immunized prior to breeding in order to pass maximum immunity to pups
  • Pups are allowed to nurse off of mother until they go home(at least once per day, mother dog's discretion) although their main food supply is whole foods with limited kibble. This ensures that the puppy will carry maximum immunity in the vulnerable time between when they leave mother dog and are fully vaccinated.
  • Puppies will be vaccinated at 7 weeks, one week prior to the earliest 'go-home-date'. This ensures that all puppies are well post vet visit and that the puppy did not contract any disease at the vet visit

Worming

  • Mother dog received daily worming from 3 weeks pre-whelp to 2 weeks post-whelp.
  • Puppies are wormed at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks
  • further worming should be discussed with the owner's Vet

Go-Home-Dates

  • The Earliest go home date is 8 weeks old.
  • We extensively evaluate the environment the puppy is going home to.  It is important that you update the breeder on any changes to the puppies new home.
  • Depending on the dogs development, training and new home situation, go home dates are individually decided by the breeder in consultation with the new owner. Can be anytime between 8 and 12 weeks.  Sometimes new families can't commit to puppy care on the date the puppy is ready to go home.  We understand this and want the puppies care to be consistent in the first few weeks, so we will adjust go home dates to meet new owner's life situations.
  • Home situations include, other dogs in the home, children in the home, experience with puppies etc.
  • The puppies best interest as assessed by the breeder is what determines go-home-date
